Port Charlotte, Fla. – The Florida Department of Health in Charlotte County (DOH-Charlotte) is partnering with Walgreens to hold free flu shot clinics at DOH-Charlotte, 1100 Loveland Boulevard, Port Charlotte, on Friday, September 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Friday, September 30 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Free flu shot vouchers with vaccinations will be available on a first come, first served basis during these hours.

Staff from Walgreens will be on hand to administer vaccinations to adults not currently covered by insurance and those with Medicaid.  The free flu shot event is part of Walgreen’s campaign to highlight the importance of annual influenza vaccinations.  DOH-Charlotte is excited to partner with them on this campaign.

“Uninsured adults are often the same individuals who can least afford to miss work due to having the flu,” said Dr. Frank Louis Lepore, Administrator for the Florida Department of Health in Charlotte County.  “It is wonderful to partner with organizations, such as Walgreens, working to protect the health of families in Charlotte County.”

Getting vaccinated every year is the best way to protect yourself, family members and friends from getting the flu.

In addition to this clinic, the Florida Department of Health in Charlotte County offers free flu vaccinations for pregnant women and children ages 6 months to 18 years.  Appointments for these vaccinations can be made by calling 941-624-7200.

Don’t wait:  Get vaccinated now before flu starts circulating in your community.
